I was very hesitant as most modern remakes or prequels/sequels today are sooo bad. However, at the moment I was shocked.
The actress they cast doesn’t look like her and can’t say a line properly
Starting from the introduction of the show, they did a really good job of casting with the actor playing young Dexter could pass for a real son. Actually, all the characters are pretty well cast with the exception of the character of “Deb” who is pretty terrible.

They wrote her dialogue well, it’s just that the actress doesn’t say it with the right attitude or pace. This is a minor distraction, though, as it’s generally worth watching a couple more episodes to see whether or not they spoil it.
